On July 27, 2012 at approximately 2:30 PM, Newton Police Detectives assisted the Sussex County Guns, Gangs & Narcotics Task Force with the arrest of Ian Skinner, an unemployed 48 year old male from 39 Halsted Street Newton, for drug distribution.  The arrest was the culmination of a lengthy cooperative investigation that involved the distribution of heroin in Newton.

Skinner was charged with multiple counts of the following offenses:


·         Distribution of CDS [Heroin], N.J.S. 2C:35-5a(1)b(3), a Crime of the Third Degree

·         Distribution of CDS [Heroin] in a Public/Park Zone, N.J.S. 2C:35-7.1, a Crime of the Second Degree

·         Distribution of CDS [Heroin} in a School Zone, N.J.S. 2C:35-7, a Crime of the Third Degree


The Honorable Judge N P Conforti, JSC authorized the issuance of the complaint warrant for Skinner and set bail at $100,000 with no 10%.  Skinner was then processed at the Newton Police Department and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of bail.
