SPARTA, NJ - The Sparta Bears Football program closed out its regular season with four big wins against their division rivals, Cranford Cougars last Sunday, Nov. 3 at Memorial Field.  While the sixth- and eighth-grade teams clinched the Continental division title, the determined fifth- and seventh-grade Bears needed victories to advance to the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football (NJSYFL) playoffs with a third and fifth place seed. 

The NJSYFL quarter-finals will be held this Sunday, Nov.10 at four assigned facilities which includes Pope John HS, Morristown-Beard School, Westfield and Bloomfield.

The Bears will kick-off against Berkeley Heights, Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Summit.

8th Grade – Level A: BH (5-3) vs. Sparta (6-1-1)                         

7th Grade – Level B: SPF (7-1) vs. Sparta (5-2-1)                     

6th Grade - Level C:  SPF (4-4) vs. Sparta (8-0)              

5th Grade – Level D: Summit (6-2) vs. Sparta (8-0)                                


Following the outcome of semi-finals scheduled for Nov.17, the eighth grade All-Star (North vs. South) game will played on Saturday, Nov. 23 to help kick-start Super Bowl weekend.
