In remembrance of 9/11, the Sussex County YMCA’s Togetherhood committee honored area police officers and firefighters on Sunday, Sept. 11. Members of Togetherhood painted American flags on pallets for the Franklin and Hardyston police departments, the Hamburg and Hardyston fire departments, and the State Police.

The pallets were donated by Haven Hill Farm in Vernon and the paint by the Home Depot in Newton. Togetherhood is a social responsibility initiative through which volunteers develop and carry out projects that benefit the greater community.

To get involved, contact Sussex County YMCA Associate Executive Director Corey Brown or (973) 209-9622. The committee, chaired by Alma Carlson, is currently brainstorming upcoming projects. All are welcome; you don’t have to be a YMCA member to join.
