Sussex County Community College’s official community theater, Drama Geek Studios, will be holding auditions for a new musical review, Those Were The Days Doo-Wop. The auditions will be held on Monday, August 7 and Tuesday, August 8 at 7 pm at the Drama Geek’s rehearsal studio located at 13 Washington Street in Newton, NJ located in the Jewish Community Center building. For this show, performers must be ages ranging from 14-years-old to adult. Please call the studio to set up an audition time 973-512-8251.
Auditioners are asked to prepare a song that captures the musical genre of the 1950s and early 1960s. conceived and Directed by Dan Reed, Performances for Those Were the Days Doo-Wop will be September 29, 30 and October 1. This show will surely please crowds who will be clapping, singing and reminiscing to iconic and catchy songs that used non-sensical phrases and tight harmonies, which kept the radios on and disc jockeys flipping records.
“We are very excited to have our first musical review, Those Were the Days Doo-Wop,” remarked Josh Reed, who is Drama Geek Studio’s co-artistic director with his wife Vicky Reed. “One of our missions is that theater should be accessible to everyone, and we believe this show will excite both performers and the audience.”
