SPARTA, NJ - On December 27, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Newton, Massachusetts woman was arrested after police stopped her 2002 Hyundai on East Shore Trail for Failing to Keep Right and Maintenance of Lamps.

Cpl. Brian Hassloch observed the vehicle in White Deer Plaza backing from a parking spot and begin to head the wrong way in the northbound lane.  When the driver, 25-year-old Victoria M. Johnson realized her error, she pulled back into the parking spot and then exited the Plaza in the proper lane.  Cpl. Hassloch followed the vehicle and observed it cross the double yellow lines on East Shore Trail.

He also observed the vehicle to have a license plate light out.  After stopping the vehicle and detecting the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath, Cpl. Hassloch conducted a series of Field Sobriety Tests.  After failing these tests, Johnson was arrested for DWI.  She was transported to Headquarters for processing and breath testing.

Johnson was charged with DWI, Failure to Keep Right and Maintenance of Lamps.  She was released several hours later to a sober adult.  Police Officer Arlene Lippencott assisted with the investigation.
