A Sparta man who survived a drug overdose On June 19th, now has to contend with the criminal charges that he was served with after he recovered. At 11:50 pm, Officers, Joseph Pensado and Frank Schomp were dispatched to a Schindler Drive address to assist an individual who was reported to be unconscious.
When the officers arrived on scene they found 21-year-old, Sparta resident, Ethan Macgiir lying on the floor. He was conscious but in distress. Macgiir told the officers that he had ingested “two-hits” of LSD (Lysergic acid Diethylamide). As the officers attempted to assist him, Macgiir began to hallucinate and became combative.
Macgiir was brought under control and placed under arrest. He was subsequently found in possession of an additional three tabs of LSD and 50 grams or less of marijuana. Macgiir was transported to The Newton Medical Center by the Sparta First Aid Squad and Paramedics from St. Clare’s in Sussex. Macgiir was treated and released several hours later.
Macgiir has been Charged with; Possession of LSD and Marijuana Within 1,000 feet of a School Zone (Sparta High School) and Being Under the Influence of Narcotics. Macgiir is the 14th person in Sparta to overdose on narcotics this year. This past March a 33-year-old male died after he overdosed on Heroin in his home.
