SPARTA, NJ – A woman who caused an accident on Route 94 in Sparta ended up under arrest for drunk driving. According to police, Lesley Marshall stopped her 2008 Hummer H3 for “an unknown reason,” on Rt 94 near Saddle Ridge Road, on Dec 4. The vehicle behind her was able to stop but a third car could not stop in time, crashing into the second car. This was reported to happen around 9:20 p.m.
Sparta police Cpl Brian Hassloch determined the 62 year-old Moonachie resident Marshall was possibly under the influence of alcohol. He administered a series of field sobriety tests which Marshall failed.
She was placed under arrest for DWI, then transported to Sparta police department headquarters for processing and breath testing.
Marshall was charged with DWI, Careless Driving and Obstructing the Passage of Other Vehicles. She was released to a sober adult several hours later, pending a court date.
