SPARTA, NJ- Due to a Winter Storm Warning currently in effect and the forecast over the next 24-hours of extreme weather conditions for our region, the Sparta Township Chief of Police, and Emergency Management Coordinator, Ernest I. Reigstad has ordered the Sparta Township Municipal Building to be immediately utilized as a “GO 2 Center.”
A “GO 2 Center” is not a designated shelter. You cannot sleep, eat or shower at this location. This center is established for those Sparta residents who need a safe location in which to warm up and recharge their electronic devices.
If you should lose power at your residence and need such assistance, you are urged to come to the Sparta Township Police Department located in the lower level of the Municipal Building and sign in at the Communications Center window which will be marked with “GO 2 Center” placards. The center is currently open and shall remain open until such time yet to be determined by the Chief of Police.
For hours of operation and other relevant information, please go to the Sparta Township Website at http://www.spartanj.org and the Sparta Police Facebook page. Local media outlets will be advised via press release.
