STILLWATER TWP – The Fairview Lake YMCA invites families to an open house on Sunday, March 15, to learn about the array of sleepaway camps for children and teens from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
From the traditional to the specialized, Fairview Lake YMCA sleepaway camps build kids’ self-esteem, confidence and social skills in a fun, safe and enriching environment. The Fairview Lake Y, located on 600 acres next to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, is celebrating its 100 birthday this summer and has a new 8,000 square foot lodge complete with a three-story indoor climbing wall.
Children as young as 6 can join the fun at the Minisink and Fairview Discovery camps. Boys in grades 5 through 10 can sign up for the Kittatinny camp while girls in those grades can join the Laurel Ridge camp for three-week sessions. The Y offers co-ed weeklong specialty camps including Creative Arts, Intro to Sports, Sailing and Windsurfing and Target games, as well as a range of Adventure Trips and Adventure Camps.
“These programs are designed to help children develop their sense of belonging while they become energized, confident, open-minded, motivated and empowered,’’ said Fairview Lake Y Executive Director Bob Kahle. All the camps are accredited by the American Camp Association. Last summer, more than 750 campers enjoyed Fairview Lake Y camps.
Parents can meet the camp directors at the Camp Open House 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday. To learn more, visit fairviewlakeymca.org or call 1 (800) 686-1166.
