SPARTA, NJ – A fatal accident has led to the closure of County Road 517 north of West Mountain Road. Drivers are being diverted up West Mountain Road.
The road will be closed for “several hours,” according to police on the scene for the investigation and clean-up. It is expected that the road will re-open by 1:30 p.m. prior to school dismissal.
At this time it appears that the driver who was killed crossed the double yellow line and struck the other vehicle. The driver of the other car was taken for medical treatment of a leg fracture.
The identities of the drivers have not been disclosed pending notification to next of kin.
According to police there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol playing a part in the crash.
