FLORHAM PARK, NJ- A Florham Park man was arrested for two counts of production of child pornography, one count of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity and one count of distribution of child pornography.
According to the New Jersey Department of Justice, Colin Skeele was arrested by agents of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and is currently being held without bail.
Skeele, 30, taught at parochial schools in Boonton and Sterling from 2009 to 2012 and spent eight years volunteering at a boy’s summer camp in Hardwick. A witness has come forward to law enforcement and has provided them with details of Skeele’s actions over the past several years.
The summer of 2011 saw Skeele befriend an underage boy he met while volunteering at the summer camp as a counselor. Skeele became Facebook friends with the minor and used the social media tool to obtain pornographic images of the boy.
“Skeele offered to pay him money to take sexually explicit photographs and send them to Skeele.” A NJDOJ press release said. “In one instance, Skeele paid the boy $100 to send nude images of himself. Skeele later sent at least one pornographic image of that boy to another boy that had also attended the summer camp.”
According to facts presented by Special Agent Isidro Cruz of the United States Department of Homeland Security to the United States District Court of New Jersey, in 2012, Skeele contacted individuals in the Philippines in order to pay for and view in real time, sexual abuse of a child performed live and distributed over Skype. Skeele requested specific sexual acts from children of a variety of ages. These included girls as young as seven and nine and a boy who was only a year old. Skeele even went so far as to express his disappointment that the youngest girl, only three years old, was currently in the hospital and could not perform.
In addition to this, according to a letter from the Office of Emergency Medical Services, while serving as an Emergency Medical Technician for an ambulance squad in Vernon, Skeele allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old squad cadet multiple times and showed the underage teen child pornography.
Skeele now faces decades of jail time and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
“The two counts of producing child pornography each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine,” the NJDOJ press release said. “The count of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charge of distributing child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.”
