The Center for Prevention and Counseling is hosting their Fourth Annual “Gift of Recovery” gathering on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 5-7 pm at the 65 Newton-Sparta Road, Newton, Recovery Community Center. The Recovery Support staff at The Center and members of the Sussex County Recovery Advocacy Group use this opportunity to extend their gratitude and hope for the Sussex County community to engage everyone who wishes to have a life of recovery and wellness: The Gift of Recovery. Bring the kids, too, please! This is a family event. There will be food, laughter and fun with a few surprises. Join other recovery friendly people for this upbeat, lighthearted time to gather away from the stress and bustle of the Holiday Season. Learn more about enhancing recovery and the many activities and peer support meetings offered at the Center and in our area. And….you never know who will show up on a wintry afternoon!
Can you remember waiting with anticipation as the Holidays approached to open those brightly wrapped presents, knowing that one would hold what you had come to anticipate EVERY year? You know….it was the one box with warm socks, cozy underwear and a soft new pair of pajamas? You knew to anticipate that one present as a true sign that, even as you grew up, you could be guaranteed that bit of tender loving care. Our recovery support staff and volunteers thought that a “Pajama Package” would be exactly right for a “Recovery Center Giving Tree” this Holiday Season.
This year, as part of our GIFT OF RECOVERY celebration, beginning now and throughout the month of December, we welcome you to sign up to donate a Pajama Package here. As we gather as many wrapped Pajama Packages as possible, we will offer these throughout the winter season to our clients in need. We ask that you consider putting together a cozy pair of PJs, a pair of socks and a package of underwear for the age and size you choose. If you want to donate more than one Pajama Package, this is wonderful and all will be thoughtfully distributed.
Throughout the year we have found that, many of the people we serve come to us with very little other than the clothes they wear. Or, their plight includes leaving a situation quickly with very little belongings. Sometimes, children may go without these all too necessary items. Please join us and other recovery allies on December 7th as we welcome in the holidays at our fourth annual Gift of Recovery and also consider donating a Pajama Package if you can! Together, WE CARE! If you know of someone you would like to nominate (individual or family) to receive a Pajama Package, please contact Patricia Mackay at (973)940-2966 or email firstname.lastname@example.org at the Sussex County Recovery Community Center or, for more information text @center65 to 81010 and receive a text message about all upcoming events.
