FRANKFORD, NJ -  Sussex County Freeholder candidate Dan Perez has named Howard Burrell his Campaign Manager. Burrell, of Vernon Township, was elected to the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1999. He is the most recent Democrat elected to the board. “I am fortunate to have Howard work alongside me in this campaign. Howard is a true family man, a proud Sussex County resident, and a great American. He knows what it takes to be an effective freeholder. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have as my wingman.” Burrell grew up in the small southern town of Utica, Mississippi. After graduating from Tennessee State University in Nashville, where he was a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer’s Training Corps and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He departed the Air Force as a Vietnam-era veteran after having achieved the rank of Major. Burrell was nominated by the Governor of the State of New Jersey and confirmed by the Senate Judiciary Committee to become one of seven State Commissioners on the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission, where he currently serves on the Commission’s audit committee. He also currently serves on the Centenary University Board of Trustees, the Felician University Council of Regents and the Veteran’s Advisory Board. In addition to being elected freeholder, Burrell held elected positions on the Vernon Township Board of Education and the Vernon Township Council. Burrell has been married to Reba Burrell, a retired schoolteacher, for over 50 years. They have three adult children and two grandchildren. Perez can be reached at (201) 303-6209
