SPARTA, NJ- It was Glee Night at Sparta High School on Wednesday, Feb 12.  There were 22 student acts in the variety style showcase.  The event was sponsored by the Music Boosters, raising approximately $1,000 for the SHS Musical Theater and the Jeff Syberg Memorial  Scholarship fund. 

The evening was kicked off with a preview of the spring theater production.   Members of the cast of the show called High School Musical performed "We're All in this Together."

Several students chose to sing solos; Stephanie Well, Kristen Petrucci, Emily Melberger, Angelique Donati, Devon Reid and Hailey Berlin.

Kalin Hagedorn and Henri T Brooks performed their own original songs.  Ashley Smetana, Maddie Seeland and Taina Brantley played the piano to accompany their songs.  There were the duets of Julia Keenan and  Christine Galley, Corey Fell and Megan Gorrell.  The duo Maddie Seeland and Mackenzie Heffernan sang and played the piano. 

There were a group acts too.  Alyssa Gastelu, Angelique Donati , Melissa DiSanti, Kalin Hagedorn and Jack McDonough sang "How to be a Heartbreaker." Kenzie Heffernan, Kimberly Lennox, Carol Mathusek Ralph Krause-Palit and Henri T Brooks performed the song "Jumper."  A group called Shacapella presented "Edge of Glory."

The band The Hummdrums, fronted by Henri T Brooks, performed several Beatles tunes.  The band was joined by special guest performer, Social Studies Supervisor and Teacher  and crowd favorite, Steven Schels.  He accompanied the group on the drums for their cover of "Ticket to Ride."

English teacher and musical director Angela Davis shared her delight with the evening, despite minor technical glitches, "This is really a fun night.  We are very happy to have raised about $1000.  We hope people will come see the show in March too."  The curtain rises on the spring musical March 13-15 in the high school auditorium.
