SPARTA, NJ – As a part of the Week of Respect celebration last Friday at Helen Morgan the winners of the Most Respectful Bus Contest were announced.
Through flyers and homeroom announcements, all students were encouraged to learn their bus drivers' names. They were also asked to make an effort to be respectful to one another on the bus and to remember to say, good morning, good afternoon and thank you to their drivers.
“Three times throughout the month, bus drivers were asked, ‘On a scale of one to ten, how respectful have the students on your bus been?’” said Dou Layman, Helen Morgan principal. “Two of the buses had perfect scores of ten every time the drivers were asked.”
The winning buses were number seven Tonya's bus and number 11 Maureen's bus.
Layman continued, “Most importantly, all of the bus drivers said the students were making an effort to be more respectful since the contest began. We hope to continue the contest throughout the entire school year, announcing the most respectful buses each month.”
