FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ – Two people were arrested on narcotics distribution charges in Franklin according to police. The Franklin Borough police department had received a number of complaints about drug activity near and around Main Street and Brick Row.
Their investigation led to the arrest of Gennifer L Martin and Sammuel V Kirkpatrick both of Franklin. Franklin detectives allege the two to have been selling heroin.
On Nov 17 at 6 p.m. Kirkpatrick was arrested for distribution of narcotics and related offenses. At the time of his arrest Kirkpatrick was found to have heroin and cocaine, according to police.
Also on Nov 17 at 8 p.m. Maritn was arrested for narcotics distribution and related offenses. She was found to have heroin, a substance used to defraud a drug test and Suboxone as the result of a body cavity search.
Police report both Kirkpatrick and Martin were charged with Distribution of heroin, distribution of heroin within a school zone, distribution of heroin within 500 feet of a public building along with multiple other narcotics offenses. Martin was also charged with possessing a substance used to defraud a drug test. Both had bail set at $125,000 with no 10 percent option. They were transported to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
The complaints that were filed are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges may be presented to a grand jury for potential indictment.
