SPARTA, NJ - On April 15, at approximately 7:33 a.m. Sgt. Jeff Mase observed a 1996 Nissan pickup cross the paved section of the median on Route 15 that is reserved for emergency vehicles. 

Sgt. Mase stopped the vehicle and immediately detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle.  The driver, 49-year-old Mark T. Mueller from Sussex, admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and agreed to allow police to search the vehicle. 

Police Officer Tom Snyder arrived on scene and took over the investigation from Sgt. Mase.  Police Officer Snyder located marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle. Mueller was arrested and transported to Headquarters for processing.

He was charged criminally with Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He also received summonses for CDS in a Motor Vehicle and Crossing Over the Median on a Highway. 

He was released pending a court appearance.
