SPARTA, NJ – Together, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church invite all to a prayer for peace on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 6 PM.  Weather permitting, the gathering will meet at the rock on the front lawn of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 246 Woodport Road.

“The events of the last week in our nation – the disturbing and deadly events in Charlottesville, VA as well the overt racism and nationalism in our press and media – call upon us to repent and to pray for all of God’s children living in the United States,” Pastor Tina Reyes stated.

The service of prayer will include scripture, music, reflection, and prayer.  Folks attending are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket for your convenience.  The service will be moved into the sanctuary in case of inclement weather.

“The issue is far deeper and louder than we often admit,” Debra Brewin-Wilson, rector of St. Mary’s stated. “The time is now – to act justly and to live righteously according to God’s love for all of God’s creation.”
