I am running for Sparta’s Board of Education with Kim Bragg and Niamh Grano and we are #3, #4, and #5 on the ballot.

My daughter Elizabeth is 10 and is in 5th grade at Helen Morgan School.  She is passionate about reducing waste in our district and make Sparta a more environmentally friendly place to live and go to school.

She and her friends had a great idea last year to try and reduce waste in the cafeteria at Helen Morgan.  They are now piloting this program at Helen Morgan using real utensils (not plastic) and real trays, not disposable ones.

As a board member, I hope to take this idea and expand it district wide.  We could be doing this at all 5 of our schools.  

Our children have great ideas and I think it is amazing that theirs were implemented on a small scale.  If elected, I hope to expand upon it.

I would like to thank Dr. Rossi for taking the time  and meeting with these students and listening to their ideas.
