OAK RIDGE, N.J— Lakeland Bank colleagues have donated over $30,000 so far this year to support various charities through the Bank’s Jeans Day program. At the beginning of each year, employees vote to select the charities which will benefit from the Jeans Day fundraiser. The Jeans Day program encourages all colleagues to wear jeans on Friday in exchange for a minimum charitable donation of $10 a month.

“I am especially proud of the generous donations our colleagues contribute each month to charity organizations that serve our local communities as well as those beyond our neighborhoods,” said Thomas J. Shara, president and chief executive officer of Lakeland Bank. “It exemplifies the Bank’s philosophy of the importance of giving back to the community.”

In June, colleagues wore their jeans and raised $3,350 to support the Sussex County Golf Classic which was held at the Newton Country Club. For 33 years, Lakeland Bank has hosted this special event which brings the community together to raise funds for not-for-profit organizations serving residents and their families from the county and surrounding area. This year 200 golfers participated and the event raised nearly $60,000.

In July, colleagues raised $3,450 to support the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The mission of Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower warriors who have been injured while serving in the military. WWP currently serves over 56,000 warriors and nearly 8,000 family members through its 20 unique programs and services. The purpose of WWP is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
