NEWTON, NJ – The Town of Newton is asking for donations to the GoFundMe page set up to help the family of Peyten Critchlaw. “Any donations made will go to help Michele with any financial hardship she has during this tough time,” is the statement on the GoFundMe page.
Critchlaw died after suffering a medical emergency during her physical education class, in the Merriam Avenue School gymnasium. With her classmates looking on the first-grade student appeared to lose consciousness after noon on Wednesday, according to police.
Newton police got the call around 12:13. Critchlaw was receiving CPR when first responders arrived. Police say they brought the six-year-old to Newton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing according to police.
