CAMP HILL, PA - Saturday evening, the Spartans continued their winning streak at the Atlantic Coast Championships in Camp Hill, PA. The Sparta High School marching band took first place with a score of 95.135 against nine other bands of similar size and caliber. Their show, Strange Reality, features iconic Danny Elfman music from the films of Tim Burton.
Two weeks ago, the Marching Spartans won the Tournament of Bands Metropolitan Area Championships, earning a promotion to the Open class in the 2015 season.
Drum Major Katie Scaglione comments, “It was a thrilling performance. I’m so proud of the band that came together when it mattered most!”
Also at the competition last night, senior field captain Jack Donahue was awarded a $750 scholarship for his continual dedication to marching band and music.
Donahue, one of four winners, comments, “With the band earning an outstanding score and winning first place, the scholarship was the icing on the cake. I couldn’t have finished senior year on a better note.”
"None of this would have been accomplished without our amazing band staff and band parents," said Drum Major Madeline Abatemarco.
