McCain A Maverick and a Statesman

It was sad indeed to read about Senator McCain's serious bout with Cancer! I remember after JFK died his friends wrote a book, with a title based on a sign in Dublin, which noted that the Irish barely knew our President, but surely would miss him!

McCain is the same for me! I knew of his heroism in Vietnam, and I liked his zeal in going after his own Party, attacking his Party's President, and his hunches on issues were often right and often wrong!

McCain was often antsy, but he had great respect in the Senate with both Parties! Senator Feingold, a Democrat joined McCain on Campaign Finance Reform in a classic bill in 2002, and though now out of office was among the first to wish McCain a speedy recovery!

I cannot always say I agreed with McCain, but this was a man that received the Profiles in Courage Award, and I had the pleasure of knowing one of the authors! McCain was a fit!

Seeing McCain in the Ukraine blasting the Russians for their treachery and other trips like that totally impressed me! He is a man of courage and faith! He is again a hero!

McCain made two attempts for the Presidency and would have been better than this one and the younger Bush! It is true like JFK, we hardly knew him, but we will  indeed miss him!

I hope he makes it back to the Senate, and be the strong lion in winter! McCain was and is a statesman, who cared more the next generation over the next election!
