HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ - According to Hopatcong Police, officers responded to 222 Flora Ave. in Hopatcong on Wednesday night after a call from Mirna Bolanos, 30, who reported that her mother, Ligia Bolanos, was harassing her and the phone then went dead. Upon arrival at the home, the police found Ms. Bolanos outside on the steps of the home and she was cooperative with police.
Patrolman Barta found Ligia Bolanos, 56, deceased, inside the hallway of the home. The victim sustained injuries to the skull. A bat was located near the victim.
Mirna Bolanos was arrested and taken to the Hopatcong Police Department. She was processed and charged with Murder, Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $750,000. She was brought to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail.
