The annual Atlantic Health System ‘Take Your Child to Work Day’ event was held Thursday, April 27, including Newton Medical Center. Employees’ children between the ages of 7 and 11 got to learn about what their parents do at work as well as meet some of Atlantic Health System's community partners.

“Take Your Child To Work Day is an opportunity for us to inspire future health care leaders," said Nikki Sumpter, Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Vice President, Atlantic Health System. "It is wonderful to share the many ways their parents contribute every day to improving the health of our patients and the communities we serve.”

At Newton Medical Center, the day included a first-hand look at some of the care provided in a hospital, including hands-on demonstrations of surgical procedures and educational sessions on treating injuries. The children were also given tours of Atlantic Air Three, one of the organization’s medevac helicopters, an Atlantic Ambulance, as well as a vehicle from the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department. The children were treated by a surprise visit from New York Jets wide receiver Myles White, who also spoke with the children.
