NEWTON, NJ – Newton Pride is inviting the community to their third annual 5K. More than just a run, the event is billed as the areas only Halloween themed 5K with various categories of prizes, activities and food. Runners are encouraged to bring family and friends to walk or run in costume.

The event, co-sponsored by ThorLabs,  is planned on a new route over a newly paved course that begins and ends at Newton High School.  The route winds through Bristol Glen.  Muggs Media will be covering the event.  Applebee’s will be at the finish line providing complimentary lunch in addition to tricks and treats from the event organizers.

Participants can begin checking in at 7:30 a.m. The fun begins before the race with an 8:30 a.m. Zumba Race Warm-up class. There will be a heated massage and stretching tent.  The main event will kick off at 9:30. with water stops and mile splits.  The course is USATF certified. The race will be chip timed and sanctioned 500 grand prix points.

“Newton Pride Foundation bridges the gap between the clubs, groups and classes for social, athletic and Academic needs and their budgets through grants,” said Dave Petry, Foundation President.

Discount rates are available for students and large groups and pre-registration. 

An awards ceremony will take place immediately following the race at 10:15 a.m.  In addition to the usual outstanding performance recognitions, prized will be given in categories such as Best Costume and Largest Group.

The event will conclude with Newton Pride Foundation’s 50/50 Raffle Drawing.  With only 1000 tickets to be sold the winner will receive up to five thousand dollars.

Tickets are available on the Pride’s web site and will be sold at the ShopRite on Oct 17 and 18 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The community is encouraged to enter their club or group; students, adults, friends and families registering under the same name will be considered a group.  The Foundation will be awarding a cash prize to the largest club or group. 

Registration prior to Oct 15 will assure participants of receiving a commemorative 2015 Halloween Themed weather wicking ling sleeved shirt and goody bags.  Day of registration will be accepted.
