SPARTA, NJ - Last Sunday, Leslie Huhn hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony signifying the opening of the headquarters of the Northwest New Jersey Democratic Women's Caucus in Sparta.
The organization began as Sussex County Democratic Women's Caucus in January under the leadership Chairwoman Huhn and Executive Director Jamie Lombardi. By August, they had expanded to encompass Sussex, Warren and Morris counties, becoming Northwest New Jersey Democratic Women's Caucus. Senator Cory Booker joined Huhn and Lombardi at their kick-off event in Warren county.
Democrat candidate for Lt. Governor Milly Silva was on hand to support their efforts on Sunday. Both she and Barbara Buono had been endorsed by this organization. In her brief remarks to the 30 people in attendance, Silva thanked them and spoke about issues particularly important women voters.
"Our mission is to remain focused on civic engagement through community outreach," explained Huhn, " and to continue to promote and endorse female candidates in local and statewide races."
