NEWTON, NJ—On Sunday, July 12 at 11:17 a.m., Newton Police received a report of a burglary and theft at Campbell’s Small Engines on 99 Moran Street.

After an initial investigation was done, it was revealed that sometime between Saturday, July 11 at 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:20 a.m., an unknown person or people used a blow torch to cut the lock and chain on a fenced-in outside storage area in the rear of the business.

Upon gaining entry, the subject stole several pieces of used landscaping equipment that was in the shop for repairs. The stolen items included;

  • five chainsaws,
  • two weed whackers,
  • two cut-off saws and
  • one backpack blower 

The items were valued at a combined total of $5,739.00.
