FRANKLIN, NJ - On Friday May 17 at approximately 8 p.m. Franklin Police patrol officers initially responded to investigate and take a report of an erratic driver, “road rage” incident on State Highway 23.
Further reports revealed the operator of one of the vehicles was in possession of a firearm.
The witness-victim reported that the driver of another vehicle had displayed a firearm after they had been involved in a confrontation while they were both traveling on State Highway 23.
During the course of the investigation, one of the operators, John A. Gannon, 57, of Danbury Connecticut was found to be in possession of a firearm.
Upon investigation from the Franklin Police Detective Bureau, Gannon is alleged to have brandished the firearm in the direction of but not at the driver of another vehicle while pulling into the Quick Chek in Franklin. Gannon is alleged to have brandished the firearm in order to intimidate the other driver.
John Gannon was arrested and charged with one count of, unlawful possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $10,000 with no ten percent option.
Gannon was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in lieu of bail.
