ANDOVER, NJ – The Barn at Hillside Park in Andover was the site of this year’s Sussex County Association of Realtors Annual Meeting. In addition to approximately 65 realtors and associate members, Ginny Littell and Senator Steven Oroho were in attendance.

Littell was given a check for Ginny’s House.  The $2000 donation represented the proceeds of the recent golf outing.  She explained a bit of the history of the organization and facility in Newton that advocates for children as they are helped when child abuse is suspected or detected. Founded in 1995, Ginny’s House coordinates the efforts of child protection, law enforcement, prosecution, healthcare and mental health agencies for the affected children.  Ginny’s House does not charge for their services having served hundreds of children since 1998.

Past President Dan Corrigan from ReMax in Sparta, spoke of the plans for next year’s golf outing at Wild Turkey where the proceeds will go to support Breast Cancer awareness.  “Participant will all wear pink shirts and play with pink balls.  The women’s long ball champion from Calgary, Canada is scheduled to attend the event to give demonstrations.” Corrigan is also the Chairman of the Golf Outing committee.

Sparta Weichert Realtor and 2013 Realtor of the Year Dawn Corbo gave a presentation about the importance of supporting RPAC, citing successful lobbying efforts that included allowing lawn signs to continue to be posted and retaining the mortgage tax deduction.

John Massari, SCAR President recognized William Meeker for his 40 years of service as a Realtor.  Meeker noted that important as the recognition and plaque, Emeritus status means he will no longer have to pay his membership dues.

Senator Steven Oroho addressed those gathered at the Barn.  He spoke about the need to attract capital to New Jersey, and the flight of capital to states with less cumbersome and onerous tax codes and rules.  Oroho offered this thoughts on alternatives that would retain and even attract capital.

After the business portion of the agenda, including the treasurer’s report, adoption of the 2016 budget and slate of executives, Laurie Richmond, 2014 Realtor of the Year introduced Alison Callow, 2015 Realtor of the Year. Callow is the Broker/Manager at Realty Executives Vernon office and has held numerous committee positions.  She was joined at the podium by her business partner Denise Hart.  Callow’s husband and two of her four daughters were also on hand to surprise and congratulate her.

A buffet lunch followed, provided by Donna Wanio’s Homers in Sparta.
