SPARTA, NJ – Snow and cold did not interrupt the tradition before the tradition.  Sparta Education Foundation’s eighth annual Krogh’s Turkey Trot went off as planned.  While a few runners did decide to stay home, there was still a good crowd in White Deer Plaza.  There were nearly 300 participants in the Fun Run that began at 8:15 a.m. and approximately 1800 runners in the 5K that went off at 8:45 a.m.

Sparta High School student Blaze Dalio sang the national anthem before the race.  Sparta Middle School Principal Michael Gregory was the official race starter.

Founded in 2006, the Sparta Education Foundation has donated $508,600 in grants to the Sparta public schools.  The most recent donations include electronic instruments for the Sparta Middle School orchestra, robotics and technical science equipment for Sparta High School, 3D printers for the Sparta Middle School, document cameras for Helen Morgan Elementary school.
