VERNON, NJ – The Sparta 10U Little League All-Star team clinched the district title when they played High Point in Vernon on Thursday.  The select 13 players won seven of nine games in three weeks of challenging tournament play to earn the title. 

The Sparta All-Stars played against Sussex County teams from Vernon, High Point, Newton and Kittatinny.  With the District win Sparta 10U now moves to play in the New Jersey Sectional tournament. 

“The experience has been tremendous for all,” Head Coach Jeff Sutton said.  “The kids worked very hard and improved a great deal over the last three weeks.  It took a total team effort the win.  We are very proud of them for showing so much heart and determination.”

The players are Brett Beierle, Patrick Connors, Kyle Enderle, Katie Sutton, Colin Gallagher, Tyler Harms, Welsey Johnston, Collin Maher, Ray Manning, Miles Masone, Anthony Patrickio, Brandon Sanagorski and Braden Schappert. 

The team was coached by Sutton and assistant coaches Brian Harms, Ray Manning and Chris Schappert.

The District 20 champs will play in the Section 1 tournament from July 16 to 23.  They will face teams from Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Hunterdon, Warren and Somerset Counties.  New Jersey Little League divides the state into four sections.
