SPARTA, NJ — Sparta 11U 2018 All Star little league baseball team defeated High Point in the final round of district play to clinch District 20 title.  The final round of the tournament was played on Thursday at Vernon.

The 11 players chosen to represent Sparta battled through three weeks of district tournament play to get to the finals. The boys went 7-1 against High Point, Vernon, Newton and Kittatinny in the double elimination tournament.

“We are very proud of them for showing so much heart and determination,” Sutton said.

Brett Beierle, Colin Gallagher, Tyler Harms, Wes Johnston, Jake Krzanowski, Collin Maher, Miles Masone, Anthony Patrickio, Brandon Sanagorski, Braden Schappert, and Katie Sutton took the field for Sparta coached by Jeff Sutton. Brian Harms and Joe Patrickio were assistant coaches.

As District 20 champions they will move to the Section 1 tournament where they will try to get the best of the other three districts. Double elimination play begins on July 29 with the winner going to the state finals.

The Sparta All-Stars will play against teams from Bergen, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Warren Counties. 

“It is a huge accomplishment for this great group of kids to win back-to-back district championships,” Sutton said.” Once again, it was a total team effort with every player contributing big hits and excellent defense leading to the 7-2 record. With the 10u team also winning their district championship, the future of Sparta Little League Baseball is very bright.
