Sparta Announces Leaf and Brush Collection and Shredding Event

SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Township curbside leaf and brush collection is scheduled to being November 6 to 13 and November 27 through December 1, Sparta Township Manager Bill Close announced at the township council meeting. 

An unlimited number of biodegradable kraft paper bagged leaves and brush tied in four foot lengths left at the residents’ curb will be picked up on a random basis, according to the township website.  To ensure pick-up the township recommends having the items placed at the curb by 7 a.m. 

The accepted kraft paper bags can be purchased at the Sparta Township Library, Sparta Department of Public Works for 40 cents each.  They are also available at retail stores.

Sparta Township will be hosting a shredding event for residents and businesses on Saturday, November 18 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Sparta Township Department of Public Works complex located at 15 Prices Lanes, Close said.  

Residents and businesses can drive up to a secure shredding truck provided by SK Paper Shred, sign in and safely dispose of unneeded documents that contain personal information, according to the township website.
