SPARTA, NJ - Sparta High School baseball smacked Hopatcong on Monday..  Thomas Ferrera hit a homerun to left field as part of a seven run first inning that sparked a huge 16-4 win over the Chiefs.

Though there were defensive miscues by Hopatcong throughout the game, Sparta forced them with hard hits and aggressive base running. The first two rotations through the lineup saw balls being put in play. They pushed Hopatcong to make plays and Hopatcong made five errors. The sun was a problem for both teams but the Spartans fought through it and limited innings that had big-run potential.
