SPARTA, NJ - Another for the win column as Sparta High School boys lacrosse defeated Madison 7-4 on Friday. Playing at Sparta's Veteran's field Daniel Smith stopped six in net for the Spartans.
Owen Mead was the high scorer for Sparta with three goals and two assists. Jesse West and Stelios Kroudis each added two.
Defensively Russell Eberding had nine ground balls, Al Falco snagged seven.
Coach Tyler Meth said, "Sparta defense Luke Binder, Will McKenna and Justin Brick played an awesome game. Al Falco had a stellar performance at Long Stick Midfield causing key turnovers. Russell Eberding was 13 of 14 on face offs giving Sparta the much needed possessions. Goalie Danny Smith was steady in net."
Kroudis and West have both reached the100 career-point mark. West did it in the Vernon game with 63 goals and 42 assists playing only one and a half varsity seasons so far. Kroudis, also a sophomore, got to the career century mark in the Madison game with 77 goals and 24 assists.
Sparta's record is now 12-0. They will travel to Mount Olive on May 3.
