SPARTA, NJ - Sparta boys lacrosse earned their second win of the season Saturday when they defeated Morristown-Beard, 16-13, behind a strong second half.

Stelios Kroudis and Mike Freeman each scored five goals with Kroudis adding an assist to lead the Sparta attack. They combined for more than half of the goals.

Jesse West had three goals and four assists. Russ Eberding won 81 percent of his face-offs with 14 ground balls. Eric Anderson had one save as Sparta locked down defensively.

Sparta started out slow and were down 6-1 after the first quarter. They battled back to get it to 7-5 at halftime. They had a stronger will to win in the second half and finished the game off with a 7-2 fourth quarter.

Sparta is now 2-5. They are back in action on Tuesday at home against Mount Olive.
