NEWTON, NJ – The Sparta boys’ lacrosse won the championship game of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament beating North Hunterdon 11-7. The game was played on Saturday on the Newton High School turf field.
This is the first time the Sparta High School boys lacrosse team has taken the title.
Owen Mead led the effort offensively with four goals. Devon McIntyre had three goals. Jesse West and Stelios Kroudis added two each. West also had an assist.
Alex Miliken and Jack Bushey each contributed with two assists.
Russell Eberding snagged 16 ground balls and won 18 of 21 faceoffs.
Daniel Smith was in goal and had 10 stops.
Coach Tyler Meth said, “Alex Miliken and Dean Gennat did a great job clearing the ball, Danny was solid in goal. Al Falco, Luke Binder, Will McKenna, Liam Armstrong and Justin Brick were solid on defense and creating turnovers.
“Our offense, Owen Mead, Stelios Kroudis, Jesse West, Devon McIntyre, Jack Bushey and Alex Milliken all worked together to score.”
