SPARTA, NJ – Christmas tree pick up and storm debris drop off is ongoing in the township. As planned, Christmas trees left at the curb, without any lights, decorations, bags or stands, will be picked up by the department of public works.
Christmas trees must be left at the curb by January 17, according to Mayor Jerry Murphy and cannot include storm debris or wreaths.
“We’re not here to pick up your yard,” Murphy said. “We don’t have the manpower.” Murphy also explained there had not been a declared state of emergency, but had there been a declaration the township would then be picking up the storm debris.
Murphy said storm debris drop off at 15 Prices Lane has been extended through Friday, during business hours of 7 a.m. through 3 p.m.
If it is determined residents are still cleaning up and need to drop off storm debris this could be extended according to the manager’s report.
