SPARTA, NJ-The Sparta Community Garden is very pleased to announce our first educational program on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the Sparta Community Garden. A large tent has been erected to allow the event to happen rain or shine. The garden is located at 350 Main Street in Sparta which is adjacent to the Sparta Middle School.
The presenters will be three local experts: Brian Oleksak from County College of Morris, Erin Shroll from Harmony Starts and Dave Zelov from Kittatinny Mountain Farm.
Brian’s topic will be, "Looking Out for the Good Guys: Attracting Beneficial Insects to your Garden."
Erin’s topic is '“SEEDS - Understand the difference between hybrid, organic, heirloom, open-pollinated, GMO.”
Dave will discuss "Steps to a successful gardening season: site selection, soil prep, what/when to plant, and chemical free pest/disease control."
