SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Diamond 12U softball team was recently honored at a Sussex Miners game at Skylands Stadium. Members of the team threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
“It was a lot of fun and yet another example of how the community which surrounds the program is always there for our teams,” said assistant coach Jason Villar.
Both the 10U and 12U teams had successful seasons, each advancing to the Babe Ruth regionals. The 12U team was able to advance to play in the World Series in Florida. “Without the unbelievable backing and support the trip would not have been possible,” Villar said. “The team would like to say two words to everyone – Thank you.”
The Sparta softball teams are about to begin their fall season. “It is an exciting time for everyone involved and the girls of Sparta Softball look forward to making everyone proud of them,” Villar said.
