SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Elks have announced former Sparta Police Chief Ernest Reigstad will be the Grand Marshal of the Fourth of July parade. 

Reigstad's retirement was announced in January 2017.  He was honored at the March township council meeting for his 28 years of service to the Sparta Police Department and community. 

The Elks club is holding their Annual Grand Marshal Dinner on June 30 beginning at 7 p.m.  The dinner will be held at the Elks lodge on the Lake Mohawk Boardwalk, 6 West Shore Trail.  Limited tickets are available for $30.  The suggested dress code is business casual.

The parade will be held on Sunday, July 2 beginning at 11 a.m. this year The participants will process along the traditional route down East Shore Trail, through the White Deer Plaza and end up at Mohawk Avenue School. Awards, refreshments and free hotdogs, will follow immediately after the parade.

The Lake Mohawk Country Club fireworks are also scheduled for July 2 at dusk on the lake.
