SPARTA, NJ – Lake Mohawk may not be frozen, but it is not quite suitable for swimming. And yet on March 8 a number of people will be voluntarily jumping into the lake. They will be a part of the annual Sparta Elks Club “Chillin for our Children” fundraiser.
Participants will be seeking sponsors for their icy plunge, with funds going to support the Elks children’s charities. The money will go to support Sparta TOPSoccer program for Special Needs players as well as Elks Camp Moore.
The camp is a free summer experience for special needs children from all over New Jersey.
Donations can be made by sending a check to Sparta Elks, PO Box 701, Sparta, NJ 07871. Checks should be payable to Sparta Elks. The name of the person being sponsored should be written in the Memo.
