SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta high School field hockey team hosted Pope John on Thursday winning 2-1 in overtime.  The teams both got on the board in the first half and remained at a stalemate through the entire second half. 

Senior Captain Jacqui Hallack scored once in the first half and then again in the first few minutes of overtime for the win. 

Sparta had 19 shots on the Lions goalie Erin Callahan.

Hallack said, “We didn’t play the way we should have but we stopped them and held them right to the last minute.”

Sparta is now 5-6 for the season.  They will take on Mount Olive at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct 10.
