SPARTA, NJ – The Spartan field hockey played two different games on Friday afternoon against Vernon. The first half of the game Sparta managed to score only once. The girls returned to the field in the second half energized and ready to play. They scored three goals in five minutes. They added one more to finish 5-0.
Rhett Curran had two goals and an assist. Gretchen Bowie also scored twice. Jackie Hallack had the fifth goal. Alex Curran also contributed with an assist.
When asked about the team’s efforts Sparta Senior Emily Krapohl said, “We’re a family. We came out slow and after half time we just came together, that’s how we got three goals in five minutes. It was a great game. I’m just proud of my team.”
With a season record of 4-2-1, the Sparta Field Hockey girls will host Pope John on Saturday at 10 a.m.
