SPARTA, NJ- Sparta High School girls lacrosse outscored Pope John 10-8, playing on the Lyon’s turf on Thursday. 

Just as she's done all season, Kaitlin Mead led her team to another win beating P. But this was not just any win. A win over your rival means more to a season than just another W. It gives a team the bragging rights to a school just a few miles away.

Mead had four goals and four face-off wins. Jacqui Hallack was right behind her with three goals and two assists. The dynamic duo has helped Sparta quickly build a winning record.

Lauren Neufield and Julianna McGuire each had a goal and an assist. McGuire helped out with six face-off wins. Hailey Mead had four face-off wins.

Madison Levinson was busier than usual between the pipes. Her 11 saves kept Sparta in this game and allowed her team to get the victory.

Maria Oliva had four goals and two assists for Pope John.

Sparta improves to 5-1. They take on Ramapo on Saturday at 11 a.m.
