SPARTA, NJ – The rain finally stopped for the Sparta girls’ soccer team to take on Vernon on Friday afternoon at Station Park.  Sparta beat Vernon in overtime 3-2.

Cayleigh Glew and Kelly Carolan each scored in regular time with assists from Taylor Nolan.  It was Nolan who finally ended the game with a goal in the second overtime period.

Jackie Dowd had seven saves. 

Sparta is not a stranger to overtime this season with a game ending in a tie against Pope John on Wednesday, making that three ties for the season.   Sparta’s record is 8-8-3.
