ROCKAWAY, NJ – The Sparta girls soccer team won co-championship of the Northwest Jersey Atlantic Conference, American League on Thursday afternoon. The Spartans tied Morris Hill, 1-1, making them co-champions. 

Sparta’s season record of 15-3-1 bested Morris Hills of 11-5-3. When the teams met in the regular season, Sparta beat Morris Hills 4-3.

Sparta’s Daniella Montesano scored in the first half on an assist from Carly Seeland.

Sparta’s keeper Julia Flake was in net holding on for the win.

"The girls kept up their intensity throughout the game and met their goal of winning a division title for the first time in 15 years.  I am so proud of them," said Coach Jamie Barker.

On Saturday, the girls will play Hunterdon Central in the final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament. This will be the first time Sparta girls’ soccer is to be represented in the tri-county tournament finals.
