SPARTA, NJ - Coach Richard Heckman enters his 46 season as head coach of the girls track and field team leading a veteran squad that went 1-3 in the NJAC in the 2016 season.

When asked about the strengths of his squad, he said, “Our greatest strength is the talent of those athletes (returning), plus the many other veteran athletes who have risen to the occasion and are working hard and mentoring the newer members of the team.”

The team will rely on returning members: Cayleigh Glew, Gianna Marcones, Michaela Pampin and Carlie Wilson. The new member of the team that fans should keep their eye on is Zoe Canzaniero, who will participate in high jump and hurdles events.

Heckman is hoping for some broken records but team success is the ultimate goal.

The first meet for track and field is Monday April 3 at Walkill Valley.
