Sparta High School Alumni Earn Accolades on Campus

SPARTA, NJ – Sparta area students received recognition on their college campuses.

Rochester Institute of Technology has announced several Sparta High School alumni have been named to the dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester; 

  • Nicholas D’Avanzo studying biomedical engineering
  • Allie Sangalli studying game design and development
  • David Chiariello graduated with a bachelors of fine arts degree in illustration
  • Sydney Liebman studying photographic and imaging arts
  • Brendon Strowe studying web and mobile computing

Guillaume Pineau has been named to the dean’s list of SUNY New Paltz for the spring 2017 semester.

The University of Rhode Island has announced two Sparta High School alumni have graduated at the spring 2017 commencement ceremonies.  Lukas Baumgartner graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management.  Joelle Gratkowski has earned a bachelor of science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering Cum Laude.

Danielle Freedman had graduated from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York with a bachelor of arts in Psychology. 

Maya Drummond has graduated Summa cum Laude from Ithaca College’s School of Health and Science Performance with a degree in Clinical Health Studies. 

Lindsey Fisher has graduated Magna cum Laude from Ithaca College’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance with a degree in Clinical Heath Studies. 

Ithaca College has named Lindsey Fisher and Alexa Tambasco to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester.

Dylan May was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester at Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts.

James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia will be welcoming Andrew Lopuch, Bridget Togno and Abby Pieyro to campus for the fall 2017 semester.  Lopuch will be studying biology, Togno will be studying nursing and Pineyro is going to study international business.

SPARTA, NJ – Three men were arrested after being stopped for driving 80 mph on Route 15 north on September 12 around 10:30 p.m.  Sparta Police Officer Thomas Snyder stopped Juan Loenardo for exceeding the 55 mph speed limit and smelled marijuana when the officer spoke with the driver, police report.

SPARTA, NJ – Acting on a call about a suspicious car parked at the end of a cul-de-sac on Crownview Court, two Newton teens face drug charges.  On September 5 around 11:41 a.m. Cpl. Richard Smith found the car in question with Pennsylvania tags parked on the road with no occupants, police report.

Annual Taste of Newton Event Brings Hundreds to Spring Street
